Arizona Travel Guide

topicsforall | 03 July, 2008 14:21

The state of Arizona is famous for its desert terrain, cactus plants and spectacular sunsets. It is all this and more and an Arizona travel guide may contain a few surprises. There is a cultural heritage here, much influenced by the Native American community and by neighboring Mexico. This is reflected in the local cuisine and art work. Many activities are catered for, including fishing and sailing and there is fun for all the family at water parks and zoos.

Many westerns have been shot in the area and the desert is a familiar image but a good Arizona travel guide will also point out that there are more than 300 golf courses here. Some of these courses host competitions in the FBR Open. Winter sports enthusiasts also like to visit and there are three main resorts for skiing and snowboarding. These are the Arizona Snowbowl in the northern area of the San Francisco Peaks, the Mount Lemmon Ski Valley near Tucson and the Sunrise Ski resort in the eastern part of the state. A recent development has been the thriving wine industry, which came into being with the opening of the first vineyard in 1973.

The state is home to many artist colonies and there are an abundance of art galleries. One of the most well known ones is the Heard Museum, which promotes Native American art. This is located in the state capital of Phoenix. As can be seen in any Arizona travel guide, the city is an interesting place to visit with varied attractions. One of the most popular features is the Saint Mary's Basilica, an historic church feted for its stained glass windows. There are several museums, including the Arizona Science Center, which contains a planetarium and an IMAX Theatre. Exhibits include information on the mining industry, the fascinating geology of the area and aerospace and energy conservation.

The city of Tucson is another city, well worth a visit. It too has many museums and these include the Pima Air and Space Museum and the Museum of the Horse Soldier. There are a number of downtown buildings of architectural interest, including the Art Deco style Fox Tucson Theatre, the Rialto Theatre dating from 1920, and the St. Augustine Cathedral, which was finished in 1896.

Of course, the major attraction of any vacation to this state is the Grand Canyon. No Arizona travel guide photograph can do justice to this geological wonder, evolved over 2 billion years. The Colorado River carved out the colorful rocks in the gorge, enjoyed now by thousands of tourists every year. Visitors can go on guided tours, walk on the trails or try white water rafting. There are numerous animals to spot, including mountain lions, lynx and coyote.

Make Your Own All Occasion Cards

topicsforall | 03 July, 2008 14:15

All occasion greeting cards are a really useful way to keep in touch with the people in your life who do not live near you. A lot of people think that all occasion cards (or letters for that matter) are passe and outdated, but nothing could be further from the truth. The very fact that less people send mail nowadays makes it that much more precious. People are going to be really happy to get a card from you, because cards are not sent that much anymore. For just a little effort, you can make a big difference in the life of one of your friends.

All occasion cards can be a great craft project. Basically, you can make them out of anything and in any style you want. One of my favorite ways to make them is out of handmade recycled paper. It has a wonderful, varied texture that creates a neat background to the card. Then all I have to do is cut out letters from a different, darker sheet of recycled paper that say something like “thinking of you” and paste them on.

Of course, a lot of people want a more formal look for their all occasions cards. If you are going to be sending all occasion cards off to bosses, coworkers, and business contact, you probably aren't going to be going for a homemade, crafty vibe. In that case, you can print your cards out on your computer. Get a picture that you like (either one you have taken yourself, or one you have sound on the Internet) and put it on the front of the card. It should be something scenic and relaxing, something that will give someone a good feeling no matter when they look at it. Then, you can set it up with a template so that, whenever you want to, you can print out an all occasion card with whatever personalized message you want.

Then again, a lot of people prefer to buy their all occasion cards. I have a friend who runs an online cards store, and he tells me that business has never been better. He can not come up with enough designs for different cards, and frequently receives requests for new ideas. Because he has professional printing gear, he can offer well made cards at a cheap price and still make a good profit. All in all, it looks like all occasion cards will be around for a long time.

California Tourist Attractions Diverse and Ample

topicsforall | 25 June, 2008 13:09

One of the most popular tourist destinations for family vacationing is the state of California. California is one of the premier places that families are attracted to because there are many choices and a wide diversity of tourist attractions. This makes it easy to find things to do and places to visit that will appeal to different preferences. On top of that, the weather is usually pleasant, regardless of the time of year the vacation travel is planned.

No matter whether the family is interested in activities in the cities of California and the big theme parks that are so plentiful, or they are more inclined to enjoy the breathtaking mountains, the lush and ancient forests, or the miles and miles of beautiful beaches, there is no doubt that there are enough attractions to provide many options. In fact, vacationing in California will probably mean that there will be much more to see than most families will have time to visit, so there's not much chance of boredom being a problem during a family vacation in this state.

Most of the time when families start talking about a vacation to California, everyone gets excited about the big tourist attractions that everyone knows about, such as Universal Studios, Disneyland, Sea World, Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm. But in addition to these major sights, one shouldn't overlook some of the lesser known, slightly quirky attractions.

For instance, one of the attractions near San Francisco, which is gaining a surprising following, is the Museum of Pez Memorabilia. Yes, that's right; the little Pez candy dispenser everyone remembers from their youth has been honored with its very own museum. The museum contains not only the officially released Pez dispensers made by the company itself, but also features a collection of some "fantasy Pez dispensers" that have been produced by an "underground" market.

Including some of these off-the-beaten paths, quirky kinds of attractions in the family vacation plans will help make the overall trip even more memorable and fun as well. It's probably a good bet that your child will be the only one in their class to report that they visited the Pez museum during their vacation travel.

While in the San Francisco area, there are many wonderful sights that should not be missed. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world's most popular attractions, and for good reason. In addition, no visit to San Francisco should be considered complete without a stop by the historic and popular Fisherman's Wharf or Alcatraz.

Within a couple hours drive of the Bay Area, the Napa Valley awaits visitors with an array of tourist spots all its own. With vineyards to explore, wine tasting, fine gourmet restaurants to delight in, and plush boutique hotels to luxuriate in, it is no wonder why the quaint small towns of the Napa Valley are some of the most popular tourist destinations anywhere in the states.

One of the best ways to enjoy great family vacation deals is to shop for discount vacation packages, which include the California tourist attractions that your family is most interested in seeing. Many times, families can enjoy cheap vacations because of the savings that they can get through these packages, which often include the hotel rooms, airline tickets, car rental, and even tickets to one or more of the major theme parks.

California Vacation Travel and Tourism Resources

topicsforall | 25 June, 2008 13:00

At some point in recent history, someone quipped that most people who want to visit the Golden State on their vacations really have a secret desire to "be Californian," if only for the few days or weeks that they find themselves vacationing in the state. Because of this outlook, many people seek out the detailed information about becoming a "temporary Californian" by visiting the extensive travel and tourism website that is provided by the state itself.

The state of California has an official department, or commission, that is structured to help promote and encourage people to travel throughout the vast state to take in all of the sights and wonders of the many tourist attraction destinations. It is the California Travel and Tourism Commission, or CTTC, which began promoting the idea of calling vacation travel visitors "Honorary Californians."

The real idea behind this nickname is to give out-of-state tourists some extra encouragement to do more that simply see the various tourist destinations around the state. Instead, the Travel and Tourism Commission encourages visitors to fully embrace the lifestyle of California, which is that of being easy-going, relaxed and laid-back, and to take the time to enjoy the culture as if they were a "local."

The CTTC has put together an extensive website. The impressive online presence is an attempt to compete aggressively for the attention of those planning to travel and who are looking for vacation ideas, for the ideal family vacation and great tourist destinations. They have provided an online tourism and travel guide that is intended to help potential visitors to the state to fall in love with the destination even before they arrive.

The CTTC website has gone a long way in accomplishing this goal by giving the website visitor a great deal of information about the "must see" tourist attraction options, as well as highlighting the many world renowned landmarks around the state. And, if that were not enough, there is also extensive revelations about "inside scoops" that further give people insights about where to go and what to see to make the vacation travel visitor feel even more connected and like a Californian, honorary or not.

And, true to the very image of style, fun and uniqueness, the state's website provides all of this information, and much more, in a way that is visually appealing, engaging, and fun. This approach certainly helps to set the stage for the California experience and helps to draw people in and retain their attention. In the highly competitive world of travel tourism, this is very important and the consensus is that the CTTC has done a very good job at providing a compelling tourist guide.

From where to gingerly sip a trendy drink at a casual Los Angeles hideaway, to catching the rays on a sun-baked San Diego beach, to soaking up the high life at a posh Napa Valley spa, the California Travel and Tourism Commission's website, at visitcalifornia.com, has captured and cataloged the local California hotspots and revealed hidden state treasures. For travelers who like to pre-plan their itinerary, the site even offers an extensive menu of trip ideas, complete with Google maps.

Your Favorite Pizza Place

topicsforall | 17 June, 2008 14:39

When I went to New York City for the first time, I was told by just about everyone that I had to go to a pizza place or my trip would not be complete. There is something American about finding great pizza. In fact, there are some that feel the personality of a city or an area simply by the pizza that they serve. Though I did enjoy the pizza we had in NYC, I can’t say it was the best that I have ever had. However, it certainly had a New York feel to it, and isn’t that the point anyway?

Most people find that their favorite pizza place is right in their own town. Perhaps it is because that is what they eat the most, and probably because that is what they grew up on. There are many chains out there that have great pizza, but the best pizza place seems to be the one that is owned by a family that has been making pizza for a very long time. They know what they are doing, and they have tinkered with their recipe until they have come up with the best pizza they can make.

That’s not to say that the chain pizza place does not have some good food to offer. The big ones are around because people like them, and often they like that they can find the same pizza in different places around the country. The chain pizza place tends to have the same things everywhere, but they may have local specials that you can’t find anywhere else. Eating at one is certainly safe, but you may discover something wonderful if you see what a city really has to offer in the way of pizza.

I always thought I was alone in thinking the pizza place in a town was as important as anything else. There have been three new families that have moved in near me in the last year, and each of them asked for a recommendation for a great pizza place in town. We love pizza because it is something that most will eat, always tastes great, and can be delivered right to the home. Even though most think it is Italian in nature, we have made it very much a staple of American life. You may enjoy a chain, but remember to order from your locally owned shop on occasion. If they all go out of business, something wonderful about our culture will be lost.

Better Food Storage Options

topicsforall | 17 June, 2008 14:32

If I had paid more attention to my food storage options in the past, I would probably have more money in my pocket right now. Our grocery bill is rather high, but it would be lower if I had the things I needed to keep my food fresh for a longer period of time. Half of this is due to my refrigerator, but that is something that is out of my hands at the moment. I have had to throw away just too much food, and I need better options for keeping things longer.

What you use for food storage will decide how long leftovers last. There are Ziploc type bags that many use, and they are great for many things. However, they are not great for others. If you have something that does not quite fit, and you have to leave it open on the end, the food is going to spoil very quickly. These are not always budget friendly either, as you have to buy new ones all of the time. You may be able to wash this type of food storage bag, but who has the time for that?

I got a set of food storage containers a long time ago, and the set was rather large. Lately I have noticed that I can’t seem to find a lid that matches any of the containers that I have left. The problem for me is that some things get lost in the back of the refrigerator, and I am so scared of what is inside that I throw them out rather than cleaning them out and using them again. I am going to try to remedy this by buying a set of food storage containers that are more expensive so that I will be less willing to throw them out. This might also mean I clean out the refrigerator a little more often.

Though I’m not sure I’ll be buying them, there are vacuum type systems out there made just for food storage. They seem to be wonderful, but I know I will buy them but never use them. However, if you really want to save money on food, and you want something that will keep stuff around and fresh for a longer period of time, this might just be the type of food storage system that you should be buying. Just remember to buy where you know you can easily return for more bags if and when you need them.

Orlando House Rentals

topicsforall | 30 May, 2008 14:40

Through the years my husband and I have tried to give our children a well rounded childhood. We have done this by spending time with them playing educational games when they were small and board games as they matured. We involved them in the worship community and taught them the reasons why we worship together as well as serve one another within the spiritual community. We volunteered as a family to help with various community events, like picking up garbage along the roadside ditches and helping at the area food shelf. We have also been involved with their school events and support them in any activity that they decide to try. Our main rule with everything that they want to try is that if you start something you need to finish it because others are counting on you. Following through and finishing projects are very important skills to show a child.

We have also done many fun vacation trips together. We have found that many of the popular vacation destinations offer houses for rent. This has been a great alternative to staying at a hotel. We decided that we were going to take a trip to Disney world so we began checking into Orlando house rentals. The reason we like this alternative is that it allows us to make some of our own meals. We also have found that we spend less time telling the kids that they need to be quiet so they do not disturb other hotel guests. We were hoping that we could find Orlando house rentals by the week. This is common for the more popular family destinations, especially when you go in the summer months when many of the locals are taking a break from the heat or taking their own vacations. We haven rented houses along the eastern seaboard as well as in the mountains.

My husband found three strong possibilities for Orlando house rentals. One was four miles from Disney world, one was ten miles from the theme park and the other was fifteen miles. The one that was fifteen miles from the theme park was located across the street from a municipal swimming pool. We thought that having the swimming option for the kids would be great and worth the extra drive. The rental came with the use of the kitchen and the utensils and dishes as well as three bedrooms two bathrooms and a large family room. We paid more than we would have paid for a week in a hotel; however when we factor in the money we save in not having to eat out every meal and the extra comfort of being able to relax and have space, it was well worth the money. The next time you are going to Disney world check out Orlando house rentals.

Orlando Resorts For Vacation Options

topicsforall | 30 May, 2008 14:30

In my job, I get to travel all over the world. Although I have to work long hours, the opportunities for high pay and exotic travel destinations make it worth it. Still, I often have regrets that I don't get to spend more time with my family. I have been waiting for the perfect destination to come along on a business trip, but recently it has been slim pickings. When I was picked by my boss to go to an Orlando convention, I jumped at the opportunity. I decided I would bring my family along. My daughter was just getting to the age when she would appreciate Disney World, and it seemed like one of the best vacation opportunities in years.

At first, we thought about getting an Orlando rental, but we couldn't find anything that quite suited our needs. I wanted to provide the best for my family, and that included a spa, a swimming pool, an exercise room, and other amenities. Staying in an Orlando resort just made a lot more sense. I have never stayed in Orlando resorts before, but I assumed they would be adequate. Adequate barely describe it. It was luxurious! The Orlando resort had everything. It had a heated outdoor pool, an on staff masseuse, excellent room service, and an extremely knowledgeable and courteous staff who could recommend many different vacation activities.

At first, I thought that we were wasting some money by staying in that Orlando resort. I assumed that we would spend most of our time in Orlando theme parks, barely having time to go back to the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by how much use I got out of the accommodations. You see, although my wife and child had a lot of time to enjoy the parks, I had quite a bit of work to do. When I came back in the evening, I didn't always want to go right out into the park. Sometimes it is nice to hang out around the resort, enjoying a massage, taking a dip in the pool, and reading a good book.

Talking to the other people I met at the conference, however, I realized that my experience was not universal. For every good Orlando resort, there is a bad one. Many of these Orlando hotels specialize in separating tourists from their money while providing minimal services. It is important to go through a good travel agency so that this doesn't happen to you.

Odor Removal Products

topicsforall | 13 May, 2008 15:06

There are many conditions that call for a quality odor removal product that actually works. It is very important to look into your options before putting any soap or other classic cleaning agent on the smelly surface. These cleaners can actually lock the odor into the surface, especially a porous one. Following are some options in odor removal that you may want to consider.

If the smells linger in the air, you may want to opt for activated charcoal. This stuff literally sucks the stink out of the atmosphere. I was thrilled to discover how well activated charcoal works as an odor removal agent in my damp basement. In no time at all, the charcoal removed the musty mildew smell from the area.

You can always try good, old-fashioned baking soda. This is a natural product that works well in areas like the fridge or on carpeting. However, you may want to look into a stronger odor removal product for serious smells. Baking soda does a fine job but it just doesn’t stand up to more technologically advanced products made specifically for odor removal.

One of those products that merge technology with getting rid of unpleasant smells is the ozone machine. This product does require you (or a hired professional) to do a little work in order to get the odor out of the area. However, this approach does yield excellent results that you will adore.

Enzymes are all the rage these days when it comes to odor removal. This kind of product is applied directly to the source of the smell and it chemically alters that source, making the smell disappear. I used this odor removal product on portions of my hardwood floor that had been sprayed by the previous homeowner’s pets.

The enzymes worked wonders and this is an example of an odor removal product that does have to be applied right on the source. This can be tricky if you don’t know exactly where the odor is coming from. If you don’t know where to spray, you’re pretty much shooting in the dark.

This may seem a little hard to believe but my basement smelled but I couldn’t pinpoint where the smell actually lived. This is why the activated charcoal was a much better option for this area.

There are other options to consider as well. Some odor removal products are designed for specific types of smells while others clean the air of unpleasant scents in general. No matter what, they are a great investment for a happier, fresher home.

Finding the Right Mouth Grill

topicsforall | 13 May, 2008 14:59

There's no doubt about it. Mouth grills are the newest type of jewelry on the market today. Previously a “bling” item reserved for only the most successful celebrities, mouth grills are now readily available to those of us with shallow pockets. Popular with both men and women, mouth grills are available in luxury materials: gold, platinum, and diamonds. These mouth grills have graced the teeth of celebrities like Johnny Depp, Madonna, Paul Wall, Ludacris, and Nelly. With their shiny and stunning appearance, you can now match your teeth to your jewelery!

It's important to find a reputable jeweler who makes these choppers. Local stores are best, because if there are any imperfections, they can be corrected immediately. However, you may not be able to a worthwhile dealer in your area, as many of them cheat on the quality of construction of their mouth grills. An internet dealer can be a good bet, because they have a higher demand than any city or suburban store. Thus, they must maintain a certain standard of quality.

When choosing a maker of mouth grills, find out how the grill is constructed. Some have each individual tooth soldered together, while others are one continuous row. One-piece grills are the most desirable, because individually soldered grills are prone to breaking and cracking.

Dealers of mouth grills will first ask you for an impression of your mouth. A kit of mouth putty will be sent to you. It is extremely important that you take the mold of your mouth properly, because you don't want to leave any tooth exposed. Don't worry, this process is completely painless.

Now that you have a base point for your grills, its time to choose what style you want. While the ideal grill would be diamond and platinum, we can't all afford that. For those who can, the most amazing and visually stunning grills are a platinum plate with diamond dust embedded in it.

Because that style is reserved for rappers like Paul Wall, who claims his mouth grills cost $25,000, we regular folk will need to settle for other styles. Plain gold grills are the most common, especially with the ladies. They have a fancy and rich appearance, and%

Bark Collar As A Great Dog Accessory

topicsforall | 05 May, 2008 14:39

Bark collars are wonderful dog accessories. Because every dog is different, it takes several types of bark control collars to work for all of them. A lot of people don't want to use a sonic bark collar, or one that shocks the dog before trying something else out. I do have to admit that this method, while not inordinately cruel, a somewhat mean. Were I a dog, I would rather be sprayed in the nose with citronella than shocked or subjected to a piercing tone. Nonetheless, citronella collars don't work for all dogs. Basically, they work by spraying a powerful jet of citronella every time the dog barks. This confuses the dog, and it is Perceived as mildly uncomfortable. For some dogs, this is an effective method of bark control training. Not only does it avoid stressing them out the way that shock collars can, but also does the job more quickly for dogs with a fragile temperament. After all, these kinds of dogs can get freaked out by shock or sonic collars.

It is sad for those of us who like big dogs, but normally the bigger the dog, the tougher the training has to be.  Part of this has to do with the fact that bigger dogs tend to be tougher. A bark collar which might be shocking enough to terrorize a little dog simply won't work for them. Along with this toughness, They can also be more stubborn. They are used to being bigger than most things, even sometimes their owners. This means that, unless you show them who is boss by doing something they find unpleasant, they won't listen to you.

Of course, bark training involves a lot more than the bark collar. Almost all dog training involves creating associations between desired behavior and rewards, or unwanted behavior and punishments. Sometimes, bark collars alone can train a dog, but more often some involvement is required by the pet owner or a suitable trainer. The dog has to associate the discomfort or pain received from the bark collar with displeasure on the part of the trainer.

So which one is right for you? I think that the best idea is to start small and work your way up. Sometimes, a dog will be able to resist A minor bark collar, but will quickly understand what is going on when it is substituted for a more unpleasant one. Working with the collars in two phases like this, strangely enough, can actually speed up training. And will improve your dog's behavoir too.

Bad Dog Behaviors Can Be Cured

topicsforall | 05 May, 2008 14:36

Pets are the best thing we can have next to another human and it is for a good reason. There is something comforting about a presence in the home that loves you no matter what you do, and is always there when you are feeling a bit down or lonely. Though there are many types of pets out there, most people have cats or dogs as their pet of choice. Cats are pretty low maintenance, but they can have problems. Most who have dogs will deal with some bad dog behaviors on occasion, and knowing how to fix them can mean a great deal when it comes to harmony and happiness in the home.

It is common to come across bad dog behaviors when you raise a dog from puppy-hood to adulthood. It’s not really that the behaviors make the dog bad, it is just that they don’t know any better. There are many great training tools you can use to make sure the bad dog behaviors never come out in your dog, but there are some that might slip through. There are even times when your normally well behaved dog will suddenly decide that they would love to chew up your favorite pair of shoes, or even shred the couch.

One great way to help with bad behavior in dogs is to find training books on the subject. You should know that these are great, but you do have to have the time and the energy to put into the training. If you come from a household that has two working adults, this might not be something that will work well for you. If you think you have the time, search out books on bad dog behaviors that reflect the age of your pet and even their specific issues.

When books don’t work, or you simply don’t have the time to invest in the training properly, you can also find classes in your community or even instructional videos that can help you eliminate bad dog behaviors. Most of these things are cleared up more quickly this way, and that means the busiest of people have a fair chance of turning things around. Many find that the bad dog behaviors are more easily fixed than they ever imagined and their pet calms down a

Video of A Man Stuck In Elevator For A Weekend

Nicholas White, the man stuck in the elevator said on his interview with ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" yesterday, "After a certain period of time I knew that I was in pretty big trouble because it was the weekend,". You can see the 3 minute video of Nicholas' 41 hour trouble here.

Nicholas White was a production manager for Business Week when he left his office about 11 p.m. Friday October 15, 1999, for a cigarette break. The reason why the elevator stalled was not yet determined but it was rumored that the incident was cause by an voltage dip.

Archery As An Outdoor Sports

topicsforall | 13 February, 2008 07:25

Archery is very interesting if you know the basics it is even more interesting if you know how to hunt using your bow. Many outdoor activities involve some type of pain or discomfort. Perhaps a sunburn at the beach, mild frostbite when snow skiing or blisters while hiking. Naturally, these types of pain and discomfort are expected and usually the end result is worth all you had to endure. However, in the sport of bow hunting, archery, one may wonder if it is indeed worth it. Judge for yourself.

Most hunters start hunting with guns, until someone comes along and talks them into trying bow hunting. Many times deer season starts earlier than the more traditional hunting method using guns. That in itself is a big motivation for many hunters, as they will get more hunting time! Another advantage is that it is usually legal to take a doe during archery season. What hunter would not like getting to hunt the woods earlier and possibly take a trophy whitetail deer. They look at it as more time in the woods, more chances to get a deer. Simple really. Or is it?
