Arizona Travel Guide

topicsforall | 03 July, 2008 14:21

The state of Arizona is famous for its desert terrain, cactus plants and spectacular sunsets. It is all this and more and an Arizona travel guide may contain a few surprises. There is a cultural heritage here, much influenced by the Native American community and by neighboring Mexico. This is reflected in the local cuisine and art work. Many activities are catered for, including fishing and sailing and there is fun for all the family at water parks and zoos.

Many westerns have been shot in the area and the desert is a familiar image but a good Arizona travel guide will also point out that there are more than 300 golf courses here. Some of these courses host competitions in the FBR Open. Winter sports enthusiasts also like to visit and there are three main resorts for skiing and snowboarding. These are the Arizona Snowbowl in the northern area of the San Francisco Peaks, the Mount Lemmon Ski Valley near Tucson and the Sunrise Ski resort in the eastern part of the state. A recent development has been the thriving wine industry, which came into being with the opening of the first vineyard in 1973.

The state is home to many artist colonies and there are an abundance of art galleries. One of the most well known ones is the Heard Museum, which promotes Native American art. This is located in the state capital of Phoenix. As can be seen in any Arizona travel guide, the city is an interesting place to visit with varied attractions. One of the most popular features is the Saint Mary's Basilica, an historic church feted for its stained glass windows. There are several museums, including the Arizona Science Center, which contains a planetarium and an IMAX Theatre. Exhibits include information on the mining industry, the fascinating geology of the area and aerospace and energy conservation.

The city of Tucson is another city, well worth a visit. It too has many museums and these include the Pima Air and Space Museum and the Museum of the Horse Soldier. There are a number of downtown buildings of architectural interest, including the Art Deco style Fox Tucson Theatre, the Rialto Theatre dating from 1920, and the St. Augustine Cathedral, which was finished in 1896.

Of course, the major attraction of any vacation to this state is the Grand Canyon. No Arizona travel guide photograph can do justice to this geological wonder, evolved over 2 billion years. The Colorado River carved out the colorful rocks in the gorge, enjoyed now by thousands of tourists every year. Visitors can go on guided tours, walk on the trails or try white water rafting. There are numerous animals to spot, including mountain lions, lynx and coyote.

California Tourist Attractions Diverse and Ample

topicsforall | 25 June, 2008 13:09

One of the most popular tourist destinations for family vacationing is the state of California. California is one of the premier places that families are attracted to because there are many choices and a wide diversity of tourist attractions. This makes it easy to find things to do and places to visit that will appeal to different preferences. On top of that, the weather is usually pleasant, regardless of the time of year the vacation travel is planned.

No matter whether the family is interested in activities in the cities of California and the big theme parks that are so plentiful, or they are more inclined to enjoy the breathtaking mountains, the lush and ancient forests, or the miles and miles of beautiful beaches, there is no doubt that there are enough attractions to provide many options. In fact, vacationing in California will probably mean that there will be much more to see than most families will have time to visit, so there's not much chance of boredom being a problem during a family vacation in this state.

Most of the time when families start talking about a vacation to California, everyone gets excited about the big tourist attractions that everyone knows about, such as Universal Studios, Disneyland, Sea World, Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm. But in addition to these major sights, one shouldn't overlook some of the lesser known, slightly quirky attractions.

For instance, one of the attractions near San Francisco, which is gaining a surprising following, is the Museum of Pez Memorabilia. Yes, that's right; the little Pez candy dispenser everyone remembers from their youth has been honored with its very own museum. The museum contains not only the officially released Pez dispensers made by the company itself, but also features a collection of some "fantasy Pez dispensers" that have been produced by an "underground" market.

Including some of these off-the-beaten paths, quirky kinds of attractions in the family vacation plans will help make the overall trip even more memorable and fun as well. It's probably a good bet that your child will be the only one in their class to report that they visited the Pez museum during their vacation travel.

While in the San Francisco area, there are many wonderful sights that should not be missed. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world's most popular attractions, and for good reason. In addition, no visit to San Francisco should be considered complete without a stop by the historic and popular Fisherman's Wharf or Alcatraz.

Within a couple hours drive of the Bay Area, the Napa Valley awaits visitors with an array of tourist spots all its own. With vineyards to explore, wine tasting, fine gourmet restaurants to delight in, and plush boutique hotels to luxuriate in, it is no wonder why the quaint small towns of the Napa Valley are some of the most popular tourist destinations anywhere in the states.

One of the best ways to enjoy great family vacation deals is to shop for discount vacation packages, which include the California tourist attractions that your family is most interested in seeing. Many times, families can enjoy cheap vacations because of the savings that they can get through these packages, which often include the hotel rooms, airline tickets, car rental, and even tickets to one or more of the major theme parks.

California Vacation Travel and Tourism Resources

topicsforall | 25 June, 2008 13:00

At some point in recent history, someone quipped that most people who want to visit the Golden State on their vacations really have a secret desire to "be Californian," if only for the few days or weeks that they find themselves vacationing in the state. Because of this outlook, many people seek out the detailed information about becoming a "temporary Californian" by visiting the extensive travel and tourism website that is provided by the state itself.

The state of California has an official department, or commission, that is structured to help promote and encourage people to travel throughout the vast state to take in all of the sights and wonders of the many tourist attraction destinations. It is the California Travel and Tourism Commission, or CTTC, which began promoting the idea of calling vacation travel visitors "Honorary Californians."

The real idea behind this nickname is to give out-of-state tourists some extra encouragement to do more that simply see the various tourist destinations around the state. Instead, the Travel and Tourism Commission encourages visitors to fully embrace the lifestyle of California, which is that of being easy-going, relaxed and laid-back, and to take the time to enjoy the culture as if they were a "local."

The CTTC has put together an extensive website. The impressive online presence is an attempt to compete aggressively for the attention of those planning to travel and who are looking for vacation ideas, for the ideal family vacation and great tourist destinations. They have provided an online tourism and travel guide that is intended to help potential visitors to the state to fall in love with the destination even before they arrive.

The CTTC website has gone a long way in accomplishing this goal by giving the website visitor a great deal of information about the "must see" tourist attraction options, as well as highlighting the many world renowned landmarks around the state. And, if that were not enough, there is also extensive revelations about "inside scoops" that further give people insights about where to go and what to see to make the vacation travel visitor feel even more connected and like a Californian, honorary or not.

And, true to the very image of style, fun and uniqueness, the state's website provides all of this information, and much more, in a way that is visually appealing, engaging, and fun. This approach certainly helps to set the stage for the California experience and helps to draw people in and retain their attention. In the highly competitive world of travel tourism, this is very important and the consensus is that the CTTC has done a very good job at providing a compelling tourist guide.

From where to gingerly sip a trendy drink at a casual Los Angeles hideaway, to catching the rays on a sun-baked San Diego beach, to soaking up the high life at a posh Napa Valley spa, the California Travel and Tourism Commission's website, at visitcalifornia.com, has captured and cataloged the local California hotspots and revealed hidden state treasures. For travelers who like to pre-plan their itinerary, the site even offers an extensive menu of trip ideas, complete with Google maps.

Orlando House Rentals

topicsforall | 30 May, 2008 14:40

Through the years my husband and I have tried to give our children a well rounded childhood. We have done this by spending time with them playing educational games when they were small and board games as they matured. We involved them in the worship community and taught them the reasons why we worship together as well as serve one another within the spiritual community. We volunteered as a family to help with various community events, like picking up garbage along the roadside ditches and helping at the area food shelf. We have also been involved with their school events and support them in any activity that they decide to try. Our main rule with everything that they want to try is that if you start something you need to finish it because others are counting on you. Following through and finishing projects are very important skills to show a child.

We have also done many fun vacation trips together. We have found that many of the popular vacation destinations offer houses for rent. This has been a great alternative to staying at a hotel. We decided that we were going to take a trip to Disney world so we began checking into Orlando house rentals. The reason we like this alternative is that it allows us to make some of our own meals. We also have found that we spend less time telling the kids that they need to be quiet so they do not disturb other hotel guests. We were hoping that we could find Orlando house rentals by the week. This is common for the more popular family destinations, especially when you go in the summer months when many of the locals are taking a break from the heat or taking their own vacations. We haven rented houses along the eastern seaboard as well as in the mountains.

My husband found three strong possibilities for Orlando house rentals. One was four miles from Disney world, one was ten miles from the theme park and the other was fifteen miles. The one that was fifteen miles from the theme park was located across the street from a municipal swimming pool. We thought that having the swimming option for the kids would be great and worth the extra drive. The rental came with the use of the kitchen and the utensils and dishes as well as three bedrooms two bathrooms and a large family room. We paid more than we would have paid for a week in a hotel; however when we factor in the money we save in not having to eat out every meal and the extra comfort of being able to relax and have space, it was well worth the money. The next time you are going to Disney world check out Orlando house rentals.

Orlando Resorts For Vacation Options

topicsforall | 30 May, 2008 14:30

In my job, I get to travel all over the world. Although I have to work long hours, the opportunities for high pay and exotic travel destinations make it worth it. Still, I often have regrets that I don't get to spend more time with my family. I have been waiting for the perfect destination to come along on a business trip, but recently it has been slim pickings. When I was picked by my boss to go to an Orlando convention, I jumped at the opportunity. I decided I would bring my family along. My daughter was just getting to the age when she would appreciate Disney World, and it seemed like one of the best vacation opportunities in years.

At first, we thought about getting an Orlando rental, but we couldn't find anything that quite suited our needs. I wanted to provide the best for my family, and that included a spa, a swimming pool, an exercise room, and other amenities. Staying in an Orlando resort just made a lot more sense. I have never stayed in Orlando resorts before, but I assumed they would be adequate. Adequate barely describe it. It was luxurious! The Orlando resort had everything. It had a heated outdoor pool, an on staff masseuse, excellent room service, and an extremely knowledgeable and courteous staff who could recommend many different vacation activities.

At first, I thought that we were wasting some money by staying in that Orlando resort. I assumed that we would spend most of our time in Orlando theme parks, barely having time to go back to the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by how much use I got out of the accommodations. You see, although my wife and child had a lot of time to enjoy the parks, I had quite a bit of work to do. When I came back in the evening, I didn't always want to go right out into the park. Sometimes it is nice to hang out around the resort, enjoying a massage, taking a dip in the pool, and reading a good book.

Talking to the other people I met at the conference, however, I realized that my experience was not universal. For every good Orlando resort, there is a bad one. Many of these Orlando hotels specialize in separating tourists from their money while providing minimal services. It is important to go through a good travel agency so that this doesn't happen to you.
